Artist Statement: “The mermaid symbolizes love and overseas travel as the maternal figure that welcomes and embraces us as we head to our destination. As a goddess from sea to shore, she greets visitors and locals alike with open arms making all travelers feel at home in Charlotte. No matter the distance from where we come or go, we coexist as humans (or spirits) on this same plane(t).”
