Ascendus

Description: Crafted in steel, aluminum, and laminated glass, “Ascendus” is designed to suggest the excitement of flight and evocations of wings, feathers, and, especially, ascent. Its location at the turnoff to Charlotte Douglas International Airport is prominent and visible from several adjacent roadways. This pristine site includes beautiful native trees and shrubs, providing a handsome background for the high tech forms and materials of the sculpture. Dimensions 60’ x 16’ x 16’.

Commissioned by the Arts & Science Council and the Public Art Commission in partnership with the City of Charlotte.
