And Your Bird Can Sing

Description: “And Your Bird Can Sing,” a photographic mural by local artist Phil Moody, was created by layering images and pieces of colored cloth onto photographic paper, and then incorporating the various images into the artwork. Moody explains, “The motivation for this project is a celebration of life in this region, hence the title and the included text. I wanted to make something celebratory rather than represent things that one would normally think of when referring to rejoicing. This can be seen in the exuberance of the figures, strong color effects and the overall size.”

Commissioned by the Arts & Science Council and the Public Art Commission in partnership with the City of Charlotte.
