Weightless Monument

Weightless Monument
Artist: Benjamin Ball
Location: Concourse A, Gate A23
Weightless Monument reflects the flow of travelers at the Charlotte Douglas International Airport as they trace invisible lines across the concourse, pausing briefly before continuing on. A suspension in both form and feeling, the work resists finality. It does not dictate meaning but instead invites awareness—of movement, of space, of the shifting interplay of material and air. In the midst of travel’s relentless momentum, it offers a moment to look up, to pause, to observe. Weightless Monument exists in transition, like breath, like thought—appearing, dissolving, and reappearing anew.
