USO Lounge

The USO of North Carolina, Charlotte Douglas International Airport Center is located on the upper level of the Atrium. Each year, the USO of NC, Charlotte Center functions as a lounge to more than 90,000 military personnel, military retirees and their families.

Since opening its doors in September 2006, the center has provided a “home away from home” for all active duty, reserve, National Guard, retired military personnel and their dependents as they travel through CLT. The center offers comfortable chairs, books, magazines, television and refreshments. Internet and phones are available free of charge to help service members connect with loved ones while away from home.

Whether traveling to a deployed location or coming home, military ID-card holders are always welcome.

The USO of NC, Charlotte Center, is one of five centers operating in support of the state’s six major bases. The mission of the USO of North Carolina is to serve and support America's military and their families.

The Charlotte Center is operated by three staff members and more than 200 volunteers.

Top Honors for USO of NC, Charlotte Center

In May 2013, at the first ever TellUSO Awards, the USO of North Carolina, Charlotte Center received the top award for a USO in the large airports category.

The awards honor USO Centers for their commitment and service to America’s troops and military families. Award winners received highest overall scores in satisfaction, value, staff helpfulness, friendliness and knowledge in their category.

Winners were selected based on results from the annual TellUSO Sound Off Survey, which was completed by more than 16,000 troops and their families worldwide in the fall of 2012. By asking troops and their families to evaluate the usefulness of USO services, they can identify areas for improvement and help set priorities.
