CLT Prepares for Labor Day Weekend Travel

CHARLOTTE, NC – As Labor Day closes out the summer travel season, Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT) is gearing up for a bustling holiday weekend with thousands of travelers making their final summer escapes.

From Thursday, Aug. 28, to Tuesday, Sept. 2, the Airport is preparing for an estimated 204,000 passengers passing through Transportation Security Administration (TSA) checkpoints — representing a 2.4% decrease compared to the record-breaking 2024 Labor Day weekend, but an almost 14% increase above the previous record-setting 2023. Nationwide, TSA expects to screen more than 17.3 million passengers and crew over the Labor Day weekend.

In total, CLT forecasts over 856,000 passengers during the holiday period, marking a 6.6% decrease from the same time last year, but consistent with 2023.

Travelers are encouraged to review CLT’s Don’t Wing It, Prepare to Fly! guide for a smoother, stress-free journey. The guide includes information about the parking reservation Royalty Program, REAL ID, as well as food, beverage and retail offerings. Travelers should be inside the Terminal at least two hours before a domestic flight and three hours before an international flight. Flyers should also check security and shuttle bus wait times at cltairport.com or on the CLT Airport app.

Updates with any significant traffic and passenger impacts will be posted in real-time to the Airport’s social media accounts (@cltairport).
