Community Engagement & Impact

The line wrapped around the building as more than 1,800 hundred job seekers turned out for the annual CLT Job Fair, which began back in 2015. This year’s event was held on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at Bojangles Coliseum.

It was an opportunity for attendees to explore careers with the City of Charlotte’s Aviation Department, Airport retailers and restaurants, airline partners, and federal partners such as the Transportation Security Administration (TSA).

Participants were able to talk with recruiters, have their resumes reviewed and gain valuable career advice about how their skills might translate into various roles.

In-Person Advantage

“Job fairs can significantly improve a candidate’s chances of success by offering advantages that are difficult to replicate online, especially in a competitive job market, “ said Erika Thompson, CLT Career and Talent Development Coordinator.

“Attendees become real people to recruiters, which alone can help them stand out from candidates who only apply online,” added Thompson. “They also gain immediate access to decision-makers. At many fairs, recruiters and even hiring managers are present, allowing candidates to ask specific questions, clarify their fit, and sometimes even secure on-the-spot interviews. This can shorten the hiring timeline and fast-track the application process.”

Ashley Gonzales is a recent UNC-Chapel Hill graduate and was among the job seekers who attended this year’s fair. “I am just trying to find an HR opportunity,” she said. “I have seen a lot of good opportunities here.”

Candidates stopped by various booths that interested them, each bringing unique skill sets and stories.

“I came to find something that could be a new profession or a start for me,” said independent contractor Emmanual Dupree.

“My husband just got a job in Charlotte, and we moved here from Florida,” said Jessie Hoppe. “I am looking for a new job in management.”
