Community Engagement & Impact

3/29/26 UPDATE: Following the Executive Order signed March 27, 2026, the Department of Homeland Security has been directed to provide backpay to TSA employees who have been working without pay since the partial government shutdown began February 14, 2026.

TSA employees could see this payment as soon as March 30, 2026. As a result, CLT’s gift card donation initiative has concluded per federal guidelines and additional donations will no longer be accepted, beginning March 30.

CLT is deeply grateful to the passengers, partners and community who came together to support more than 600 local TSA employees with food, fuel and essentials during this time. We also extend our continued appreciation to our TSA colleagues for their unwavering commitment to keeping travelers safe.

While this action provides critical relief, CLT supports long-term solutions to ensure continued stability for this essential workforce.

Gift Card Donation Drive

Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT) is organizing a gift card donation drive to support TSA employees working without base pay since the partial government shutdown began February 14, 2026. What You Can Donate

Why This Matters

TSA remains essential to ensuring safe and efficient travel at CLT. Their work allows passengers to maintain their travel plans and helps sustain the airport’s safety culture. Continued community support makes a meaningful difference as officers carry out these responsibilities under challenging circumstances.

While CLT encourages community generosity, maintaining safe operations remains the top priority. Travelers should continue to follow TSA guidance, arrive prepared for screening, and allow agents the space they need to conduct procedures smoothly.
