2027 Aviation Academy Applications Open

Applications are now open for the Airport’s always popular Aviation Academy. Sessions will run from Saturday, Jan. 9 through Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2027.

Applicants must be at least 18 years old and have a valid REAL ID. The application period runs through Friday, Nov. 6, at 5 p.m. Application Link: AviationAcademy2027.

The eight-week program offers a unique opportunity to understand how Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT) operates and its impact on our economy. The Aviation Academy is open to community members and to public and private-sector leaders from across the Charlotte region.

Participants will gain behind-the-scenes access to current operations and future CLT planning efforts. Previous sessions have included tours of the airfield, terminal, baggage system, fire station and the FAA Air Traffic Control Tower, along with presentations by CLT and its partners.

PBS Charlotte showcased last year's academy on its Carolina Impact segment.

The 2027 class will be limited to 27 participants selected through a highly competitive application process. Since 2017, 235 participants have completed the program.
