CLT is Winter Storm Ready
CLT is preparing for Winter Storm Fern, which is expected to affect the Charlotte area and much of the U.S. this weekend, bringing snow, freezing rain and ice. North Carolina Governor Josh Stein has declared a State of Emergency.
The Airport is closely monitoring the weather forecast and has a dedicated fleet of over 40 snow-removal, de-icing, and maintenance vehicles standing by.
“CLT is prepared for the winter storm, with crews, equipment, and partners ready to respond,” said Chief Infrastructure Officer Jack Christine. “As conditions evolve, we will adjust operations as needed. The safety and security of our passengers, employees, and partners remain our top priority as we work to keep the Airport running safely.”
CLT will remain open and operational; however, travelers should expect significant impacts across the network. Many airlines are also waiving change fees.
Here are some recommendations for travelers:
- Passengers are advised to check their airline for flight status before coming to the Airport.
- Expect flight delays and cancellations.
- Parking decks and lots will remain open and will be pretreated with deicing materials.
