Terminal Lobby Expansion

July 31, 2023 - The final trusses for the Terminal Lobby Expansion (TLE) roadway canopy were installed in June. Glass installation for the canopy will begin in late August and be completed in fall 2024.

Work also is progressing on Checkpoint 1 (formerly known as Checkpoint B) renovations. Most of the demolition is complete. The space will be ready for the installation of screening lanes in early August and reopen in the fall.

TLE terrazzo, wall and utility installation continues for the expansion’s east side, which will debut this fall as well. It will include the unveiling of the Queen Charlotte statue, new escalators and elevators and the opening of the east subterranean walkway.

The entire TLE project will wrap up in 2025.

Concourse A Expansion Phase II

A topping out ceremony for Concourse A Expansion Phase II was held on May 26. The event commemorated the placement of the structure's final steel beam, which was signed by crews on the project.

The installation of main structural trusses has been completed, but remains underway for mechanical, electrical, plumbing and baggage handling systems. Work also has started on the expansion’s roof and interior finishes.

The project remains on schedule to open in fall 2024. The 10-gate addition will house Delta Air Lines and three common-use gates. Concessions will include a retail store, a restaurant and two bars. 

Destination CLT is the Airport’s $4 billion capital investment in capacity enhancements.
