Rock 'n Roll Cuisine for a Cause
Hagar Family Foundation Gives Back
If you grab a taco or tequila at the newly opened Sammy Hagar’s Beach Bar & Grill on Concourse D, know that it’s rock 'n' roll cuisine for a good cause!
On June 24, the Red Rocker and former Van Halen lead singer visited Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT) to open the restaurant. Proceeds go directly to food relief and children’s causes.
According to the musician’s official website, the Hagar Family Foundation has donated over $4 million to local charities since its founding in 2008. In Charlotte, the beneficiaries will be Levine Children’s Hospital and the Hope Street Food Pantry.
“This generous support will help us expand our reach into the communities that need food the most by growing our library mobile food pantries in collaboration with the Charlotte Mecklenburg Library,” said Melody Leedy, Founder/Director of Hope Street Food Pantry. “ We are grateful for this partnership that turns compassion into impact, and we invite others to join us in this mission to bring hope to every corner of Charlotte.”
Hagar, who grew up with limited means and relied on public assistance, said it ultimately fueled his success. “It drives me to want to give back and show kids that if you work hard, there’s going to be an open door out.”
